Angelo C. Piccolomini

Angelo Con Piccolomini of Avondale Angelo C. Piccolomini, 85, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at Seasons Hospice, Newark, Del. He was the husband of Frances (Rozsa) Piccolomini. Born in Mingo Junction, Ohio, he was the son of the late Constantino and Josephine (Montani) Vargo. After graduating from Mingo High School in 1946 he joined the A&P grocery chain in Steubenville. He was drafted in 1950, served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War rising to the rank of sergeant. Upon being honorably discharged, he re-joined the A&P grocery store where he met the love of his life, his wife Frances. They were married in 1953. In 1967 he joined the large construction company Bechtel Corporation as a procurement manager. He enjoyed a long and exciting 22 year career with Bechtel, working on numerous large construction projects and living in many different locations including Two Rivers, Wis., Windsor, Conn., Groton, Conn., Walkersville, Md., Gilbert, Minn., and Litchfield Park, Ariz. During retirement, he and Frances moved to Avondale. Angelo was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed stamp collecting and playing double pinochle. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jeffrey C. Piccolomini and his wife, Amy of Unionville, and Bryan Piccolomini and his wife, Elizabeth M. of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Monica Estes and her husband, Alan W. of Avondale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rita Kilmartin of Mingo Junction, Ohio.
