Robert F. 'Bob' Johnson, formerly of Landenberg Robert F. "Bob" Johnson, 82, of Marathon, Fla., formerly of Landenberg, and born Wilmington, Del. June 9, 1931, passed away Mon., July 8, 2013. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Joanne R. Johnson (2002) and his parents Frank T. and Lillian J. Johnson of Wilmington., Del. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela J. Thomas of Kemblesville, husband, Edwin and grandchildren, Kirsten and Ethan Thomas; his son, Erik R. Johnson of Landenberg, and wife, Yvette and granddaughter, Erika Johnson; and his daughter, Judy A. Johnson of San Diego, Calif. Bob retired from the Wilmington News Journal after 30 plus years as a pressman in 1989. Prior to that he was the pressman in charge of color at the Star Color Press in Wilmington. Mr. Johnson graduated from Brown Vocational School, Wilmington, Del. in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy
aboard the USS Block Island during the Korean War
from 1951 to 1953. He and his high school sweetheart, Joanne Springer, were married on July 4, 1953. Bob and Joanne retired to the Florida Keys in 1995. In Marathon, Bob was known for his daily ride through town on his electric cart earning Bob the nickname 'official town greeter'. He was a member of the disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Elks and Moose Lodges of Marathon. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, July 18, at New London Presbyterian Church, 1986 Newark Rd., New London, PA 19360, where family and friends may gather one hour prior. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bob asked donations be sent to the Salvation Army, 400 N. Orange St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
