Asa Dempsey

DELBARTON, W.Va. — Asa Dempsey, 79, of Delbarton, went home to be with the Lord Sun., May 11, 2014, at his home while surrounded by his family.

Born July 18, 1934, at Delbarton, he was a son of the late Harley Sr. and Daisy Evans Dempsey. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold, Bobby and Teddy.

Asa was retired from the Colonial Wood Factory as a furniture maker. He was also a member of the Wolf Creek United Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Letty Hall Dempsey; four sons, Gary (Curtistine) Dempsey, Terry (Teresa) Dempsey, Carl (Stephanie) Dempsey and Kris (Kristin) Dempsey, all of Delbarton; brother, Harley Dempsey Jr. of Delbarton; grandchildren, Whitney, Austin, Cameron, Sierra, Kaleb, Kiara and Karly Dempsey and Charlie (Matt) Gibbs, and one great-grandchild, Mason Gibbs.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., May 14, at Chafin Funeral Home with Elders Gary Jude, Woody Jude, Willis Staten, Glen Penix and Arnold Pinson officiating. Burial will follow in Dempsey Cemetery at Pigeon Roost Hollow, Delbarton.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home chapel with services at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.
