Curtis Hinkle

BELO, W.Va. — Curtis Hinkle Jr., 68, of Belo, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness.

He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War before returning home to join his family in the coal mines.

He was born Jan. 22, 1946, at Belo, the son of the late Curtis and Myrtle Runyon Hinkle.

Curtis is survived by his daughters, April (Chris) Canterbury of Laurel Creek, and Sarah Beth Copley of Laurel Creek; wife, Elena New Hinkle; grandchildren, Paige Hensley, Hailey Canterbury, Drew Copley, Jessie Copley, Noah Canterbury; siblings, James (Sylvia) Hinkle, Aaron (Rosetta) Hinkle, Gail (Bill) Hunt all of Belo, Don (Joyce) Hinkle of Louisa, Ky., Roger (Shirley) Hinkle of Laurel Creek, Bill (Jean) Hinkle and Jerry (Brenda) Hinkle of Caney, W.Va., Wanda Kay (Gary) Dixon of Williamson, W.Va., and Louisa (the late Roosevelt) Lucas of Lenore, W.Va. He was loved and cherished by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Chafin Funeral Home Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Bill Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinkle Cemetery at Belo, with nephews and sons-in-law serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.
