Donna Jean Winslett

Mrs. Donna Jean Winslett, age 77, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2013 at her home.

Born in Monclo, WV, she was the oldest of six children and the only daughter born to the late, Bernard and Mary Jane Hatfield Caldwell. In the mid 1950s, while working for the FBI in Washington, DC, she met James Ray Winslett, whom she would marry in 1954. They soon moved to Warner Robins, GA where her husband joined the FAA in 1960. Mr. and Mrs. Winslett remained in Warner Robins until a transfer to the Air Traffic Control Center in Hilliard in 1967 brought them to Nassau County. Mrs. Winslett worked for the Sears Roebuck Company in Fernandina Beach for approximately 20 years. She enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid supporter of the Jacksonville Jaquars, Atlanta Braves and any team from Florida. After her retirement from Sears, she became a caregiver to her family. In later years, she spent special times with her grandson, Jonathan, traveling back to her home in West Virginia.

Mrs. Winslett is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, who passed away in 1989 and her son, Michael Ray "Mike" Winslett, who passed away earlier this year.

She leaves behind, her daughter, Teresa Sterns, Tampa, FL, a daughter in law, Laura Stanfield Winslett, Fernandina Beach, FL, four brothers, James (Donna) Caldwell, Sacramento, CA, Richard (Belene) Caldwell, Pleasant Gardens, NC, Roger (Barbara) Caldwell, San Diego, CA, Gary (Theresa) Caldwell, Clothier, WV, a sister in law, Juanita (Jim) Lane, Warner Robins, GA, two grandsons, Jonathan (Savannah) Sterns, Tampa, FL, Daniel Nowell, Yulee, FL, two great grandchildren, Kallie and Brady and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from the graveside in Bosque Bello Cemetery, Fernandina Beach, FL.

Her family received friends on Tuesday at the graveside.
