Jeff Ferrell

RAGLAND, W.Va. — Jeff Ferrell, 85, of Ragland, departed this life Monday, July 22, 2013, at CAMC General Division in Charleston.

Born November 5, 1927, in Ragland, he was a son of the late John and Louisa Chafin Ferrell. Also preceding him in death was his step-father Nick Maynard; one son, Donald Ferrell; two brothers, Clarence and Joaquine Ferrell, and one sister, Juanita James.

Mr. Ferrell was a retired coal miner, a member of the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church and the UMWA, and served in the U.S. Navy World War II.

Those left to cherish him include his wife, Maxine Ferrell; three daughters, Dinah Hughes of Ragland, Gail (Arthur) Curry of Verdunville, and Greta (Victor) Cline of Panther; one brother, Harold Ray Ferrell of Ohio; five grandchildren, Coby (Angela) Crum, Tara Topping, Aaron White, Shana Hughes, and Ryan Hughes, and two great-grandchildren, Desiree Crum and Morgan Crum.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, at Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church at Ragland with Pastor Scott Erwin and Brother Lewis Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Duty Branch Cemetery at Ragland.

Pallbearers will be Aaron White, Brandon Sloan, Ryan Hughes, Arthur Curry, David Bailey, Scott Allen Erwin, Ricky Bailey, Glen Caudill and Victor Cline.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Curry, Rodie Hatfield and Don Chafin.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church.
