Johnny Mack Thompson

HELL CREEK, W.Va. — Johnny Mack Thompson, 57, of Hell Creek, passed away March 15, 2014, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Johnny was born April 13, 1957, at Williamson, W.Va. He was the son of the late Fred Thompson Jr. and is survived by his mother, Beulah "Boots" Thompson of Hell Creek.

In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a son, Jon Jon Thompson.

Johnny was a coal miner, having worked in the mining industry for more than 39 years. He was employed by Cliffs Logan County Coal. Johnny loved working in the mines and coming home telling stories about all his coal mining buddies. He was an avid motorcyclist. He loved riding his Harley and being outdoors.

Johnny was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Those left behind to cherish his memories include his loving wife of nearly 39 years, Kathy Hall Thompson, his mother, Beulah "Boots" Thompson, sons, Jason Thompson of Chesapeake, Ohio, and J.D. Thompson of Williamson, brother, Carl Thompson of Delbarton, grandsons, Blake and Gavin Thompson, father and mother-in Law, William and Alpha Hall, nieces, Marissa Brock and Amanda Thompson and nephew, Carl Thompson Jr. He also leaves behind many great friends he made over the years while working in the coal mines.

Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday March 19, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Elder Jimmy Maynard and Rev. Lewis Hall Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery at Hell Creek.

Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m.
