NORTH MATEWAN, W.Va. — Arnold Ray Curnutte, 64, of North Matewan, passed away Tues., May 13, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Born July 6, 1949, at Thacker, he was a son of the late Denver Curnutte and Leona Hatfield Mounts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Mounts; brother, Charles Curnutte and grandparents, Dewey and Bertha Hatfield.

Arnold was a U.S. Army veteran having served during Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman Badge, Sharpshooter Badge and one Oversea Bar. He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his sons: Brian (Sabrina) Curnutte of North Matewan, and Arnold Mounts of Red Jacket; brother: Russell Curnutte of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Faye Allen and Carol Sue Mounts, both of Corinth, Miss.; special brother-in-law, David Allen of Corinth; special aunt, Joan Stephens of Calvert City, Ky.; special sister-in-law, Dorothy Curnutte of Dexter, Ky.; grandchildren, Aaron Kinder, Josh Kinder, and Aryonna Mounts, all of Matewan, Tyler Fields of Blackberry, Ky., and Jesse Mounts of Jackson, Tenn., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thurs., May 15, at Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church of God with Benny Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher. Military Rites will be performed by DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, Ky.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Phelps, Ky.
