WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Mike Mohammed "Bubby" Madlom Jr., 87, of Williamson, passed away Saturday morning, April 26, 2014, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Mohammed Ali "Mike" and Ida Curnutte Madlom. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christy Picklesimer Hensley Madlom, and his brother, Emmet Madlom.

Mike worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and also was an agent for the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration. As a young man, he worked with his father in the family's business, City Restaurant. He also worked at the Williamson Fire Department and was a Mingo County Sheriff's Deputy. Mike was a member of the Williamson Elk Lodge 1408 and American Legion Post 49 and was a 50-year member of the No. 101 Masonic Lodge of Williamson. Mike was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the East Williamson Baptist Church.

Mike was known for his sense of humor and his ready laugh. Like his mother, Mike had a love of county politics and often worked on behalf of candidates he supported. He also enjoyed calling bingo for a number of years at the American Legion and Elks Lodge.

As his health declined in the last several years, Mike was especially appreciative of the care he was provided by his daughter Judy and his grandson Cody.
