CLOTHIER, W.Va. — Arvis L. Curry Jr., 64, of Clothier, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord Tues., April 1, 2014, at home after a short illness.

Born Oct. 31, 1949, at Holden, he was a son of the late Arvis Sr. and Hilie Curry. Arvis was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra, and his brother, Wayne.

Those left to mourn his loss include his beloved wife, Patricia; his daughter, Amy and her husband, Scott, of Clothier; two precious grandchildren, Cassandra and Dillon, who were his pride and joy; step-children, John (Lisa) Holbrook, Stephanie (Chuck) Peterson, and Tracy (Elmer) Guardion; five step-grandchildren, Ashley, Aiden, Matthew, Allison and Erik; brother, Alan (Drema) Curry of Rome, Ga., and his sister, Sharon (Dennis) Sprouse of Verdunville.

Arvis was a retired coal miner and a faithful servant of the Lord and member of Coal Valley Freewill Baptist Church at Clothier for more than 30 years. He was a most humble man with a truly kind heart. He loved the Lord and could always be found doing his Father's business. He always had a smile and encouraging words for everyone he met. Arvis never let the fact that he had only one arm hinder him in any way. He worked hard his entire life using what God had given him and never questioned why. Arvis was heard many times in his testimony saying that he would wave two good arms in praise when he meets Jesus face to face. On Tuesday afternoon, that is just what he did.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sun., April 6, at Handley Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
