BRADENTON, Fla. — Helen Louise Hanners Cockerill, 75, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida.

She was born March 25, 1938, in Greenup County, Ky., to the late Edgar and Elizabeth Hanners. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by sister, Evalena (Val) Land of New York and brother, Edgar "Foxy" Hanners of Alaska.

Helen graduated from Logan High School in 1956 and attended Alderson Broaddus University where she studied nursing.

She married George A. Cockerill on April 24, 1960, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Robin (Mark) Koller of South Lyon, Mich., Al (Laurie) Cockerill of Brighton, Mich.; three grandchildren, Garret 20, Brenna 18, and Logan 15; sister, Rosella ( Fred) Wagner of Logan, W.Va. and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Helen leaves behind many beloved friends. She was a very social person and never met a person that she did not make quick friends with.

She loved to research her family tree, follow and attend her grandchildren's sport events and talk on the phone with her longtime friends and family across the country.
