MILDRED A. "MILLIE" CLINE, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Envoy Nursing Facility, Williamsburg, Va. Millie was born in Omar, W.Va., on September 30, 1927, to Estelle and Edna Wilburn. Millie was a longtime resident and raised her family in Switzer, W.Va. Millie was a very strong-willed, independent individual. She was legally blind most of her life. She was recognized as being the first woman in West Virginia to learn to read Braille and to have a Seeing Eye service dog. Millie was a Black Lung Survivor, preceded in death by her husband, Merril Cline, and by her two children, Lyle Wade Cline and Charlotte Nadine Lewis. She is also preceded in death by two of her grandchildren, Lisa Michelle Foster and Wesley Cline. Millie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Cline, and son-in-law, Don Lewis; three grandsons, Anthony Pritchett, Travis Cline and Casey Cline; and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the staff and doctors and nurses and the Hospice Team at the Envoy Nursing Facility for taking such great care of Millie over the last several years of her life. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, W.Va.
