NORTH MATEWAN, W.Va. — Mark E. McCoy of North Matewan was born on July 8,1977, beloved son of David Mark and Etta Faye Gillespie McCoy, who both survive him, departed this life Thurs., June 12, 2014, at North Matewan from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 36.

Mark is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Elsie Gillespie; his paternal grandparents, Bob and Henrietta McCoy, and also his maternal aunt, Brenda Gillespie Henry.

During his short life, Mark was blessed to grow up and spend time with close cousins, family, and friends, who will miss him greatly. As mentioned Mark's life was so very short lived but his legacy of love for his daughter, parents, sister, family, and friends will continue to flourish in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him.

Not only does Mark leave behind his precious parents, David Mark and Etta Faye, to mourn his passing but also his precious daughter, Abigail Prater McCoy, who he loved with all his heart and she loved him equally. Mark and Abigail shared a special bond and she was the light of his life. Mark is also survived by his loving sister Elizabeth Anne McCoy of Culloden.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday evening, June 16, in Chambers Funeral Services Chapel. Grave side services will then be conducted at the Blackberry City, W.Va. Cemetery Tues., June 17 with time to be announced on the website of Chambers Funeral Services (, with Pastor Bob Werntz of the Sharon Dale Church of Christ officiating.
