Edmund J. Silva

Edmund J. Silva, 86, of Bridgewater died Feb. 20, 2014. He was the husband of Beverly (Gaudreau) Silva of Bridgewater. Affectionately known to all as "Eddie the Barber" his barber shop was a fixture in downtown Bridgewater from 1950 -2002. "Eddie" was born and raised in Bridgewater. He humbly served his country in Europe during World War II. After leaving the Army, he returned to Bridgewater where he raised his family and operated his barber shop which was also a popular gathering spot for news of the day. He enjoyed music, gardening, landscaping, boating, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Silva of Bridgewater; his sons, Louis Silva and his wife Janice of Raynham and Kevin Silva and his wife Rosemary of Bridgewater; his sisters, Juliet Brunetti of Taunton and Lula Spillane of Taunton; a brother, George Silva of Carver; his grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Silva of Bridgewater, Amy Gould of Carver, Adam Silva of Bridgewater, and Jonathan Silva of Winter Park, Fla.; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Gould, and Braeden and Ella Silva. Eddie is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edwin Silva. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater.
