Laverne T. Hill

Laverne T. (Olson) Hill, 86, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Whitman, died on Friday, Feb. 1. She was the wife of the late William J. Billy Hill. Born and brought up in Brockton, daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Beary) Olson and a graduate of Brockton High. Laverne has been a longtime resident of Whitman and recently retired to White Pine Estates in East Bridgewater. She worked for the Red Coach Grill for 25 years as a waitress, hostess and trainer and then with the family tax business in Whitman for several years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Whitman VFW Post # 697. She enjoyed wintering in their Florida home and summering in Humarock, traveling to Lake George with her husband and friends, Laverne also enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Walters and his wife Beverley of VA., Donald Walters of Whitman, her daughters, Jayne ( Walters) Smith of Rockland, Nancie (Hill) Amaral of Hudson, her sisters, Mary Menendez of Stoughton, Barbara Grenon of Fl. and Lois Clergy and her husband Jack of Whitman; also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Francis, Raymond and Robert Olson, Miriam Torrey and Evelyn Alger. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 4 - 8, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
