Sumner Bauman

Sumner Bauman, of Taunton and Canton, entered into rest Dec. 31, 2012, at the age of 87. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Morris and Lena Bauman. He was a veteran of World War II, and after his discharge became an attorney. He practiced law in Canton for more than 50 years. He was active in the Masons and served as Master of Brotherhood Lodge. Sumner was very active and enjoyed playing golf, boating and fishing. Beloved husband of Gladys (Johnson) Bauman, he was the devoted father of Steven E. Bauman and his wife Donna (Creed) Bauman, and Wendy J. Bauman and her partner Sharon Krieger. He was the loving grandfather of David Bauman and his fiancee, Kimberly Paige, Adam J. Bauman of Allston, Anika Krieger Bauman and Daniel Krieger Bauman; loving brother of Dorothy Wall;and uncle of David Wall and Debra Bloom. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 12 p.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton. Memorial observance will be at the home of Steven and Donna Bauman following the funeral and on Thursday, Jan. 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Sumner's memory may be donated to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
