Obituary Condolences

Ardel "Hans" Hanson, age 81, died on Friday, June 14, 2013 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was born on May 2, 1932 in Austin, MN the son of Andrew and Anna (Wortz) Hanson. Upon completion of high school, Hans enlisted in the United States Navy and was a Korean War veteran. A retired automotive parts manager, Mr. Hanson made his home in Bridgewater the last 6 years and was a former 50 year resident of Braintree. He was a member of the Bridgewater Senior Citizens Cribbage Club, the American Legion and New Beginnings in Norwell. Hans enjoyed playing cards of any type, Western movies, dancing and most of all spending time with family and friends. Loving companion of Peggy Nisby of Bridgewater. Father of Mary Wardrop of Stoughton, Dianne Monaghan of Hull, Karen Hanson of Braintree and the late Adelle Schwalm. Stepfather of Stephen Leadbetter of Braintree, Bob Leadbetter of Easton and Carol Purdum of North Attleboro. Brother of Phyllis, Mabelene, Beverly, Andrew (Butch) and the late Andeline, Richard and Arlo. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by loving wives Ann and Elaine. Funeral service in the Prophett Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater Thursday, June 20 at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday, June 19 from 5-8 p.m. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
