Catherine Aveni Obituary
Catherine "Kaye" (Mosesso) Aveni of Holbrook passed away accidently on August 31, 2018. She lived in Holbrook but for four years of her life when she married and lived in Nashua, N.H. She returned to Holbrook in 1950. She attended Holbrook schools and later graduated from Brockton Business College. A lector for many years, she was an active member of St. Joseph Church. Kaye served on the Parish Council as well as the Finance Board of the church. As a devoted charter member of the Josepheens, she later became president of the organization. She was an avid club women and helped organize the centennial of the town of Holbrook and also the centennial of St. Joseph Church. As an active fundraiser, she served on the committee to raise funds to reduce the debt of St. Joseph Church. She also served on the committee to repair the town clock. After working at the assessors office during the re-evaluation of properties in the town of Holbrook, Kaye became secretary to the principal of the Junior High School. Kaye left to start Aveni Cleaners with her husband Ted. She was honored to receive the "Service Above Self" award from the Holbrook Rotary Club when no women were accepted as members. Kaye loved her church and the town of Holbrook. Beloved wife of the late Theodore "Ted" Aveni, she was the loving mother of Theodore "Ted" A. Aveni and his wife Barbara of Braintree and Dr. Steven Aveni and his wife Diana of Hingham; dear grandmother of Theodor A. Aveni Jr. and his wife Nicole, Mary Kate Paris and her husband Craig, Diana Reed, and Steven Aveni Jr. and his partner Alexandra Felstein; devoted great-grandmother of Theodore III and Amelia Aveni, Nadia and Vera Paris, and Jack Reed. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 68 So. Franklin St., Holbrook, until 10:15 a.m. on Friday followed by a funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. Paul J. Aveni at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Union Cemetery, Holbrook. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Joseph Church, 153 So. Franklin St., Holbrook, MA 02343.
