Charles A. Charlie Brown, age 83 years, of Brockton, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Lucille M. (Pearson) Brown for 59 years. Born Sunday, March 2, 1930 in Berwick, Maine he was the son of the late Raymond O. Brown Sr. and Beatrice C. (Newcomb) Brown. Charlie has lived in Brockton for the past 59 years and had worked for many years as an auto mechanic in the Brockton area. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict, a former Mason and a member of the Knights of Pythias where he was past president. He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, and golf and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed volunteering his time with many projects in the area including the Share Program and was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton where he was a past Deacon and sang in the choir. In addition to his wife Lucille he is survived by 4 children Sueann Farrell and her husband Jeff of Mansfield, Judith Langlais and her husband Jim of Sanford, ME, Ellen McGuire of Somersworth, NH and Charles A. Brown II and his wife Laura of Manchester, NH; a foster daughter Sandy Bjorkman; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Marguarite Eldridge of VA and many nieces and nephews. She was also the brother of the late Raymond Brown, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA 02301. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Christ Congregational Church.
