David E. Blanchard, aged 80 years, of Middleboro, died peacefully at home on Sept. 5, 2013. David was born on Nov. 28, 1932, in Bangor, ME. He was the son of the late Fred E. and Hazel E. (Carrier) Blanchard. He was a loving husband to Gwendolyn H. (Judson) Blanchard, for 58 years. He graduated from Middleboro Memorial High School, in 1950, and from the University of Massachusetts in 1954. Dave was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho agricultural fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. David was a dairy farmer on Thompson St. for over 50 years. He was a longtime supporter of East Middleboro 4-H. Survivors besides his wife, include two sisters, Hilda J. Buck and Julia A. Hartley; his children, David A. Blanchard and his partner Debra Schroth, Susan B. Shields and her husband Sam, James F. Blanchard all of Middleboro and Linda B. Pierson and her husband John of Lake Hopatcong, N.J; grandchildren, David and Meredith Blanchard, Ben, Patricia and Elliott Shields, Mary Shields, Kathryn Shields, Christopher Pierson. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 6 Plympton St., Middleboro, on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: East Middleboro 4-H, 183 Thompson St., Middleboro, MA 02346 or to the First Congregational Church, 6 Plympton St., Middleboro, MA 02346.
