George D. Kerr, 82, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died peacefully Aug. 30, 2013 at home surrounded by family. A son of the late William and Sarah Kerr, he was a graduate of Brockton High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 55 years he worked in plumbing and heating for Flatley Company. A talented vocalist, he was a member of Sing-a-Long Singers, past president of Irelands Own and Brockton Harmoneers; sang in local church choirs and city theater works; and enjoyed local politics. George was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Marble) Kerr for 58 years; loving father of Kathleen Bloomstein (and Barry) of Sharon, Maureen Plunkett (and Richard) of Rochester, and Joan Metzendorf (and Neal) of Oakton, VA; devoted grandfather of Kaitlin and Emily Bloomstein, Molly and Ryan Plunkett, Sarah, Mikaela and Kevin Metzendorf; brother of the late William and Frederick Kerr; closest cousin of Chet and Mary Millett; brother-in-law and uncle of many.
