Hope M. McCaffrey Obituary
Hope M. McCaffrey, 89, of Middleboro, died peacefully April 20, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born in Attleboro, the daughter of the late John B. and Grace Antaya, she graduated from Attleboro High School and attended Rhode Island School of Design. As a young woman she worked as a draftsperson during World War II. In 1946, she married Francis McCaffrey. The couple lived for some time in Indiana and California, before settling in West Bridgewater where they raised 11 children. When her children were grown, she worked as a clerk at the West Bridgewater Town Hall. Hope had a natural ability to make each person feel special and individually loved. She made friends throughout her life by her charm, wit, curiosity and intelligence, and by finding the good in everyone. She truly loved her children and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Hope is remembered as a loving person who appreciated everything that came her way in life. She is survived by her children, Mercedes (Ray) Behm, Elizabeth McCaffrey, and John (Sue) McCaffrey, all of Florida, Robert (Sara) McCaffrey of Oregon, Edward McCaffrey and Lisa Manna of West Bridgewater, Kate (Paul) McGonigle of Middleboro, Patricia McCaffrey and Martin Hemler of Newton, Michael McCaffrey and Elizabeth Meyer of Rhode Island, Bill (Lesley) McCaffrey of California; and 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Frank and Tom, and husband, Francis.
