Howard John Daigle, 67, of Madison, Maine, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his home in Madison. He was born May 26, 1946, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of Joseph Gilbert and Ethel (Zabriskie) Daigle. Howard graduated from Newburyport High School and he attended Northern Essex Community College, Salem State College and UMass-Amherst, graduating with an environmental degree. Howard retired from Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management and the city of Fall River as the Conservation Officer. He also worked for the towns of Amesbury, Newburyport and Stoughton as the conservation officer. He was a past member and past secretary of the Newburyport Lions Club, past member of the Newburyport Elks, past member of the Board of Directors of the Madison Library in Madison, Maine. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marlene W. (Muchmore) Daigle of Madison; his daughter, Christine Devlin and her husband Tim of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his son, Justin Thomas Daigle of Peabody; sister, Sandra Voelkel and her husband Bill of Stockbridge, Ga.; stepchildren, Joseph Healey of Barre, Vt., and Susan Hunt and Stephanie Silva, both of Taunton; his grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Daniel Devlin; along with several step-grandchildren, cousins, niece and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013. from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, Mass. Funeral services at the funeral home will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 11 a.m., followed by burial at St. Marys Cemetery, Newburyport.
