Katherine I. Kay (Bersani) Bavin, age 89, of Lakeville, died Jan. 7, 2014, at Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville, where she was resident for the past 4 years. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Bavin. Kay was born and raised in Quincy and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Bersani. She later moved to Abington for a number of years and spent her last 30 years in Lakeville. Kay worked in real estate and managed a lighting store in Norwell. She also worked at St. Lukes Hospital in Middleboro as well as in a doctors office. Her last job (and probably favorite) was working at Starrs Coffee Shop, where she loved serving and talking with the locals. Kay spent many a Thursday and Saturday (and as many other nights as she could) playing bingo and cards as well as spoiling her grandchildren. Nothing made her more happy than Sunday dinners and Friday night coffee and pastry with her family. She was the loving mother of Ruth Hall of Lakeville, William Bavin and his wife Karen of Middleboro and Palm Coast, Fla., Thomas Bavin and his wife Shelba of Lakeville and Steven Bavin and his wife Cheryl of Raynham; cherished grandmother of 10; great-grandmother of 18; great great-grandmother of 9; loving sister of Val (Doris) Cappola of Bridgewater; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Evelyn Mullen, Dora Plausse and Thomas Bersani; and the mother-in-law of the late Henry Hall.
