Nancy Carol (White) Benoit, 79 years old, died Saturday morning, Oct, 26, 2013, in Longmeadow of Taunton. She was born in Taunton, daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Dupont) White. Known by many endearing names, daughter, mother, grandmother, Nannee, great-grandmother, G G , community advocate, Nancy was a friend to many in the Taunton community. Nancy was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. She was the office manager for Taunton Garage Door/ Fence Company, accounts receivables clerk, Butler Shoe; administrative secretary commercial loans, Bristol County Saving Bank; active in the WEIR Corporation as a volunteer and advocate for the revitalization of the Weir community and she then was employed as Project Coordinator and secretary to Mayor Robert Nunes prior to her retirement in 2001. She received the 1996 Community Development Awards from both the Mayors Office of Community Development and the WEIR Corporation, the Women of the Year Achievement Award in 2001 from the Business and Professional Womens Club of Taunton. Nancy was awarded citations from the Mass House of Representatives and State Senate for her work and involvement in her community. Nancy was a member of the WEIR Corp, Weir Seniors, Taunton Arts Collaborative, Our Lady of Lourdes Mothers Club, OLOL choir member, Taunton Civic Chorus, Rockyknoll Homeowners Association and she was formerly the secretary of the City of Taunton Manufactured Homes Task Force. Nancy is survived by her loving, faithful and devoted life partner, William Benson; and her children, Barbara Salley and her husband Rodger, Suzanne Dumoulin and her husband Norman, Beverly Mello and her husband James, Sheri Bankert and her husband Keith, Brian Benoit and his wife Norah Marie. She was also the mother of the late Henry Benoit Jr., and his twin who died at birth. Nancy was the grandmother of Lori Laffan, Jamie Salley, Tom and David Correia, Christopher Benoit, Megan and Benjamin Bankert. She was the great-grandmother of Austin, Jake, and Nolan Laffan; and she was also the sister of the late Natalie Cravenho and Anthony White; and was the aunt of several. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Rte. 138 South), Taunton, Thursday at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Andrews Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Josephs Cemetery.
