Priscilla Cross

Obituary Condolences Flowers

Priscilla Alden Cross went to be with her Lord surrounded by her children Nov. 24, 2012, at the age of 92. Born Nov. 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Florence and Milton Alden of Wellesley. She was a 10th generation descendent of John and Priscilla Alden of the Mayflower. Priscilla was a graduate of Northfield Seminary for Girls and attended Stoneleigh Junior College in Rye, N.H. She met and married Edward Donald Cross, the love of her life, while working at her father's company, Alden Products, in Brockton. They reared five children in West Bridgewater. Priscilla loved being a mother and found fulfillment in that capacity. She was also a Cub Scout den mother and Sunday school teacher. She attended Trinity Baptist Church in Brockton, Grace Bible Church in East Bridgewater, and most recently Cape Cod Church in Falmouth. She and Edward were great supporters of Word of Life in the Adirondacks of New York. She lived a full and happy life. She had a great spirit of adventure, and traveled widely with her husband, both domestically and abroad. Priscilla loved people and opened her home to many from all over the world. Always welcoming, she had a gift for listening to people, hearing their life stories, and extending Jesus love to them. She is survived by her children, Gretchen Cross of Pocasset, D. Christopher (and Susan) Cross, Esq., of West Bridgewater, Douglas (and Deborah) Cross of Quechee, Vt., Beverley (and Richard) Baird of Bridgewater and Larry (and Valerie) Cross of Marietta, Ga. She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1994. Priscilla also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Cross) Meyer, Rebecca (Cross) Pratt, Dr. Katie (Cross) Wheel, Todd Cross, and Benjamin, Alexander, and Elisabeth Baird; and four, and soon to be six, great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, William (and Judy) Alden of Falmouth. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. at Cape Cod Church, Route 28, East Falmouth, with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater. Donations may be made in her honor to Cross Currents International Ministries at www.ccimmedia.com. For online condolences, please visit Chapman, Cole & Gleason, www.ccgfuneralhome.com.
