Robert C. Barrows, 67, of Hanson died Nov. 21, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a long, courageous battle with heart disease with his wife at his side. Bob was born in Brockton and was the son of the late Raymond and Jessie (Jenness) Barrows. He was retired from the Town of Hanson Highway Department and Police Department, where he worked as the supervisor and mechanic for over 30 years. He was a former member of the Hanson Fire Department for many years. He also was employed for many years at the Hanson Pontiac Garage as the service manager and mechanic and at one time had his own business at home. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a longtime member of the Cedar Gun Club. He also loved traveling to Disney World and especially loved restoring cars and trucks and working at home in his garage. He was the beloved husband of 25 years of Gay (Smith) Farrell Barrows; and former husband of the late Cheryl Davis. He is also survived by his daughter, Maryann Hanlon; his stepchildren, Karin Farrell and her longtime companion Eric Mentis and Brian Farrell of Hanover; devoted grandfather of Stephanie and Courtney Hanlon; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, David and Richard. Bob will be sadly missed by his doberman, Diesel.
