Sean F. Tibbetts, age 41, of Brockton, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, after a short illness. He was the husband of Melissa D. (Rathburn) Tibbetts of 9 years. Born Thursday, Sept. 7, 1972, in Stoughton, he was the son of Steven F. Tibbetts of East Bridgewater and the late Virginia R. (Sandgren) Tibbetts. Sean was a graduate of Brockton High School and was attending Bridgewater State University. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton and has worked for 12 years for Computershare in Canton. He was stationed in Korea with the U.S. Army and worked as a civilian in the CIA in Virginia and at the Pentagon. He was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton and a member of the Davis School PTA. He was an avid Patriot and Bruins fan and enjoyed running and spending time with his children and family. In addition to his wife Melissa and his father Steven, he is survived by 2 children, Evan, 7, and Kyla, 5; three brothers, Jack Tibbetts of Ga., F. Scott Tibbetts of Easton and Derek Tibbetts and his wife Shelly of Nantucket; a nephew, Nicholas Tibbetts; a niece, Ava Tibbetts; his fathers fiancee, Helen Backstrom; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main Street, Brockton. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery in Brockton. Visitation will take place Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
