Dr. Weygand was a teacher's teacher, a mentor, and a champion for science education in our schools. As a new teacher in the 70's, I had the opportunity to participate in an NSF summer program with Dr. Weygand, and then the golden opportunity to be invited back as an instructor for subsequent programs. What I learned from him has stayed with me and been passed on in my classrooms over the years, and even now as I prepare elementary teachers to teach math. His vision for quality education was shared with countless educators and has impacted even more young students over the years. This is a tremendous legacy for a kind and forward-thinking educator. Thank you, Dr. Weygand. My condolences to Mrs. Weygand and your family.

George was a positive influence to many lives including my own. He was one of the leadership pillars of science education within the commonwealth and nation. He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

George was the academic 'star' of the Bridgewater Class of 1953 of which I was a member. As a WWII veteran, he was more mature that the rest of us 'boys' and we all looked up to him. He, and his lovely wife, Bea added much to the life of the college for over a half a century.
Rest in Peace, George.
Your friend, Ralph Fletcher
