John Raczkowski of Whitman passed away March 9, 2014, at age 90. John was born in Konin, Poland, and came to America at 12 years old. He lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Campaign. He had been a resident of Whitman for over 50 years. He was retired from Brockton Hospital after many years working as an x-ray tech. John was a past master of Masons Puritan Lodge, and also a member of Odd Fellows, Tall Cedars, Eastern Star and the Shriners. He enjoyed stamp collecting, woodworking and jewelry making. Husband of the late Hazel ( Bush) Raczkowski, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Carol OConnor of Whitman and Marie Bradbury of Maine. He was the grandfather of Meghan, Kimberly, and Erin OConnor, Alicia Provost, Sarah and James Bradbury ; great-grandfather of Eva Nutt and Benjamin DiGiovanni. Services to be held at a later date.
