Harold F. Owens, 89, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died peacefully March 30, 2014, surrounded by his family. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II. He worked as a technical writer and manager for medical equipment companies. He was a member of Easton V.F.W. and American Legion and in past years the Brockton Flying Club. He was a private pilot for many years and taught his daughters how to fly. A great ballroom dancer, he loved Big Band and swing music. He enjoyed gardening. His greatest passion was in volunteer work including Council of Aging Mens Group, founding Brockton Interfaith Council, Father of Brocktons Neighborhood Crime Watch, 1994 Red Cross Volunteer of the Years, Brocktons 2003 Champion of the City, greeter and mediator at Brockton District Court, and various volunteer committees for the Plymouth County D.A.s office and the Regional U.S. Atty. He taught ESL classes at St. Patrick Church for many years and for 38 years taught C.C.D. to 9th and 10th graders at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Harry was the husband of the late Patricia (Giguere) Owens; beloved father of Jeanne M. (and Larry) Burnell of Plymouth, Paula A. Owens of Easton, Linda E. (and Michael) Pantano of East Bridgewater and the late Harold F. Buddy Owens Jr.; proud grandfather of Joshua and Michael Mather Jr., Ryan, Brett and Shane Owens, Chloe, Frankie and Mikayla Pantano; great-grandfather of 4; loving brother of Ralph L. Owens Jr., Roy Owens and the late Robert Owens; and an uncle of many.
