Alice L. Caldwell Obituary
Alice Louise (Holbrook) Caldwell 93 of Brockton, MA died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Alton L. Caldwell. Born Nov. 18, 1920 in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Levi Edgar Holbrook and Hazel Frances (Crimmins) Holbrook. Alice was a 1938 graduate of Brockton High School and during World War II she worked at London Clothing in North Abington. She also worked at S.S. Kresges and retired from Childworld in 1993 after 24 years of service. She was a member of the Campfire Girls, Past President of Brockton Auxiliary of Eagles, Past Master of the East Bridgewater Grange, Past Master of Mayflower South Pomona Grange, Member of the Easton Grange, Member of the Massachusetts State Grange and National Grange, Member and Co-Director of the State Grange Community Services and a Member of the Grange for over 30 years. She is survived by 6 children John L. Caldwell of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles A. Caldwell of Concord, Vt., Richard G Caldwell of Brockton, Alan F. Caldwell of Brockton, Miriam F. Caldwell of Concord, Vt. and Patricia A. Gibson of Worcester; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Thomas H. Caldwell. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St. Brockton.
