David Daniel Cerce, aged 68 years, of Middleboro, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was the husband of the late JoAnne M. (Johnson) Cerce, who predeceased him in 2010. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elsie (Mattoli) Cerce. David earned his Masters Degree in Counseling and Education, from Bridgewater State College, and was employed at the Bridgewater State Prison as a counselor and researcher for the treatment center for many years. He enjoyed every aspect of automobiles, from the classics to the current automobiles today. He had done some drag racing in his early years, and was an avid target shooter. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was loved and respected very much by his nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. David will be remembered as a charitable man. Survivors include his son, Daniel Cerce; a daughter, Christina and her husband Michael Bragan; grandson, Noel D. Bragan, all of Middleboro; four sisters, Marie Cantelli of Tiverton, RI, Joan Cerce of Brockton, Lucinda Schiff of Fall River, Daria Hunnewell of Walpole. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 4-8 pm in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St Middleboro. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Friday, May 30th at 9 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St Middleboro, at 10 am. Burial will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Middleboro. Donations to the charity of ones choice in Davids memory would be appreciated.
