Jean M. (Empey) Machinski, 67, of Avon for over 40 years, passed away peacefully June 11, 2014, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. Raised in Somerville, she graduated from Somerville High School in 1965 and from Massachusetts School of Barbering. She owned Jeans Barber Shop in Brockton for almost 40 years and recently was a CNA at Victoria Haven in Norwood and a counselor at Phaneuf House. Jean enjoyed sewing, gardening, dancing, snow and jet skiing, and spending family time in New Hampshire. She was the wife of the late Anthony Machinski; beloved mother of Robert Machinski (and his wife Karla) of West Bridgewater, Laura Hallissey (and Stephen) of Avon and Michael Machinski (and his wife Gwen) of Avon; loving Nana of Adam and Alex Machinski, Matthew and Morgan Hallissey and Kaitlyn Machinski; sister of Joan Cahill of Cambridge and the late Lawrence Empey; and an aunt of Beth, Julie and Tom Cahill.
