Obituary Condolences

Douglas B. Fraser, age 70, of Abington, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Douglas was born on Saturday, March 11, 1944 in Weymouth, and was the son of George and Gertrude (Stockinger) Fraser. He moved several times between Boston, Cape Cod and New York as his father was in the Merchant Marine. Following his graduation from Boston English High School in 1962 he enlisted in the US Air Force and served in Libya. Douglas met and married Helen L. Faulkner and they moved to Brockton, in 1972. Before working at the Boston Globe for 37 years he worked at the Christian Science Monitor. He was a proud member of his Teamsters Union Local 1. He was an avid swimmer and a member of the East Bridgewater YMCA. He enjoyed music, especially jazz and was a drummer. He was a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross. He embraced his Scottish heritage and enjoyed attending the Highland Games in New Hampshire. "Dougie" was known as a kind and generous man. He was loved and adored by all who knew him. In addition to his wife Helen he is survived by his daughter Lynn and her fianc Marcus and their son Kellen Douglas; nephews Brad and Greg and their families, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and John Vallely. He was also the father of the late Heather Lee and Mark William and the brother of the late Hugh and Joan Fraser. Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 4 - 7 in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, MA.
