Robert J. Young Obituary
Robert J. Young of East Bridgewater died July 20, 2014, in Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, at the age of 72. Mr. Young was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Anna McGonagle and Ronald Young, and graduated from Brockton High School in 1961. He had lived in East Bridgewater since 1983, where he moved from Brockton. Robert worked for Bay State Gas in Brockton for 35 years in various departments and also worked for FootJoy Shoe, Tip Top Cafe, Westgate Lanes, and Ocean State Job Lot for a short period of time. He was a member of the American Legion and a vietnam veteran of the Air Force. He was the Association Manager for the Brockton USBC Bowling Association and as well as the Massachusetts State Bowling Association. He was inducted to the Brockton Bowling Association Hall-of-Fame in 1978 for Bowling Achievement. He bowled the first sanctioned 300 game in the history of Westgate Lanes in 1961. He won the Enterprise Tournament of Champions at Westgate Lanes in 1978. He also enjoyed watching sports, gardening, grilling, making pizza, and spending time with family and friends. He was the husband of Judith G. (Allen) Young of East Bridgewater; father of Robert A. Young and his wife Kristin of East Bridgewater and James J. Young and his wife Kera of Raynham; brother of the late Ronald Young; grandfather of Sara, Daniel and Braiden Young.
