Burtina A. (Aumack) Parcels, 99, a lifelong resident of Keyport, N.J., passed away at home Friday, July 25, 2014. She was a teacher for 40 years with Union Beach Elementary and then Keyport High School, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant to St. Joseph RC Church in Keyport. She was an avid reader, bowler and traveled all over the world. Burtina was predeceased by her beloved husband, George W. Parcels in 1976; her loving son, Burtis Parcels; daughter-in-law, Nancy Parcels; grandson, Danny Parcels; and her sister, Octavia Billie Mahawage. She is survived by five grandchildren, Mary Ellen, Michael (and his wife Christina), Kate (and her husband Jeffrey Burns), Christopher and Julie; and her daughter-in-law, Kathey Hickey Parcels. She is additionally survived by 4 great-grandchildren; her two nieces, Joanne Conner and Betty Jean Sheehan; and two nephews, Robert and James Parcels. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited Friday, Aug. 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, N.J., and Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.
