Joan Marie Healy, known fondly as Joanie, passed away Feb. 5, at Bostons Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after suffering a stroke Jan. 30, her 70th birthday. At her side were her son, Michael Healy and his wife Poppy. Joan was born in Malden and graduated from Malden Girls Catholic High School. She went on to live in Dorchester and South Boston before spending 26 years as a resident of Brockton. Most recently, she enjoyed living in the quiet beauty of Pepperell in an apartment overlooking the Nashua River. From 1984 until 2006, she worked in the classified advertising department of The Enterprise. Following her retirement, she volunteered with hospice patients in the Brockton area. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Joan leaves behind a wide circle of friends both on the South Shore and in the Nashoba Valley, as well as her beloved grand-dog Ladybug. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Joan Healy Memorial Fund through the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Visiting hours will be 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., Dorchester Lower Mills.
