David John Horgan of Norton, formerly of Leominster, passed away Oct. 13, 2012, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. David died suddenly after a brief illness. David was born April 22, 1946, at Leominster Hospital to Priscilla A (Metivier) and Daniel Joseph Horgan. David graduated from Leominster High School in 1965. David continued his education at the UMass-Amherst earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969, followed by a master's degree from Fitchburg State College in 1974. He went on to teach at Carter Junior High School in Leominster and Fitchburg High School. David was also a football and basketball coach at Leominster High School and Fitchburg High School. The highlight of his coaching career was at Fitchburg High School where he was the head coach of the football team. After coaching and teaching, David went on to automobile sales in Brockton, where he became the sales manager for his brother Robert Horgan at Champion Lincoln Mercury. David is survived by his loving wife, Louise (Boudreau), originally of Fitchburg; and his son, Christopher of Warwick, R.I.; and daughter, Kara (Horgan) Petrucci; and son-in-law, Anthony Petrucci of Raynham. David was a brother and friend to his sister, Ann DInnocenzo and her husband David of Bridgewater, N.J., brothers, Thomas Horgan and his wife Anne, Paul Horgan and his wife Diane, both of Ashburnham, and Robert Horgan and his wife Barbara of North Easton. David also leaves several nieces and nephews. Finally, David leaves behind three grandchildren, the most treasured people in his life, Brady and Logan Petrucci and Summer Horgan whom he loved more than life itself. "David has gone on to a new home in Heaven and cannot take us with him, but he has left us with infinite happy memories and hearts full of love. We will forever miss you." The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 19, from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Burial will be in St. Bernards Cemetery in Fitchburg. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m.
