Robert E. Wilkins, 70 years old, died unexpectedly Jan. 15, 2013, in Morton Hospital. Born in Taunton, son of Sidney and Mildred (McDonald) Wilkins. Bob and his wife Lenore M. (Velon) Wilkins would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. He was a 1960 graduate of Taunton High School. Bob was a lead fitter for Bay State Gas Company for 37 years before he retired. He was a past president of both the Easton Rod and Gun Club and the Old Colony Model Railroad Club. He enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire, fishing and in 2006 was awarded the Sportsman of the Year Award from the Bristol County Sportsmans Associaton. Bobs greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. Besides his wife Lenore, Bob is survived by his three sons, Scott Wilkins and his wife Denise of Dighton, Robert Wilkins Jr. and his wife Charlene of Raynham and Erik Wilkins and his wife Tara of Middleboro. He was the grandfather of Allison, David, Trevor, Jake, Talia, Trey and Ty Wilkins. Bob was the brother of Elayne Ingalls and her husband Dennis of Norton. Bob was the brother-in-law of Diana Mattos, Carol Krockta and Peter, Patricia Grant and Ed, Janet Velon, Elizabeth Tomase and Frank and the late Bruce Velon and Daniel Mattos. He was the uncle of several. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Rte. 138 South), Taunton.
