Joseph A. McDonald, husband of Deanna Lee, former teacher for the Boston School Department, died in Morton Hospital, Taunton, Oct. 23, 2013. Born in Boston, son of the late James and Lionelia (Santos) McDonald. He was a graduate of Boston Technical High, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Fitchburg State College and a master's of Science in Business Administration from Suffolk University. He taught for over 30 years in Boston. He was very involved with Landmark Education and was a strong advocate for special needs children. He was the "start up" person for three shop programs at English High, Madison Park High and Humphrey Occupational Resource Center. He served in the U.S. Navy as a jet aircraft airborne electronic systems technician. He also worked prior to teaching for DI-AN Controls in Boston working with a team developing the main computer for the Apollo Missile. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council at Holy Family. Besides his wife Deanna, he was the father of Anna McDonald of East Taunton, Joseph McDonald of Saco, Maine, and Michael McDonald of Rehoboth and Charles McDonald. He was the grandfather of Dianne McDonald or Rehoboth.
