Alice L. Scholtes

Alice Louise (MacArthur) Scholtes, of Hingham, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the age of 93. She was the beloved mother to Christopher C. Scholtes of Hingham, and Peter Scholtes; loving sister of Shirley Buckley of Bridgewater, and the late George, Charles, William, and Laurence MacArthur; daughter of the late George and Mary MacArthur. Louise grew up in Brockton graduated from Brockton High School. She then went on to earning a bachelors degree from Bates College before earning her Master of Education Degree from Bridgewater Teachers College. Louise was a teacher at Derby Academy in Hingham for 25 years and also taught for the U.S. Government at military bases around the world. She had taught in Japan, Germany, Eritrea, and Cuba. She enjoyed her retirement and loved taking cruises and vacationing in Maine. She had lived in Hingham for the last 60 years. Louise was a wonderful woman who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Louise will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
