Daly, Geraldine F.  
Geraldine F. (Garvey) Daly, of Weymouth, originally from Dorchester, died January 27, 2015 at home at the age of 80. She was the wife of the late James Donovan and the late Robert Daly. Loving mother of Nancy Clancy and husband John of Braintree, James Donovan of Fall River, Arlene Spaulding and husband Peter of East Bridgewater, and John Donovan of Abington. Also lovingly survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. DeBesse, Joseph T.  
Joseph T. DeBesse, age 84, of Milton, passed away January 24th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Born and raised in Boston, he graduated from Commerce High Class of 1946 and went on to attend Cornell and graduated from Boston University. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division for 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2749, a volunteer at the Milton Hospital and enjoyed spending time at the Milton Council on Aging. Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, cribbage, reading and doing puzzles. Beloved husband for 58 years of Mary Ann (Carr). Father of Joseph T. Jr. of Milton, Paul R. of Marshfield, Annemarie Flaherty of South Hadley, Meg Balfe of Holbrook, Ruth DeBesse of Randolph, Marilyn Kasper of Nashua and Laura Faherty of Rockland. Brother of Robert F. DeBesse and his wife Patricia of TX and the late Paul R. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Hills Church, Milton, Friday morning at 11:15. DeCourcey Jr., James J.  
James J. DeCourcey Jr., of Bridgewater, formerly of Randolph, passed away January 20, at the age of 89. Born, raised, and educated in Boston, James was a resident of Randolph for 35 years and Bridgewater for 15 years. A proud member of the U.S. Navy, James served during World War II on the destroyer USS McGowan (DD678), which supported 8 invasions, was credited for the sinking of a Japanese ship, and survived many attacks. He worked for the Mobil Oil Company in E. Boston, Quincy, and Portsmouth, N.H. James enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening and fishing. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Drain) DeCourcey; loving father of Susan Roberts and her husband Joseph of Randolph, James J. DeCourcey III and his wife Donella of Randolph, Robert J. DeCourcey and his wife Elizabeth of Kingston, and Marianne Reiss and her husband Paul T. of Guilford, Conn.; devoted brother of Mary Doherty of N.J., and the late Edward DeCourcey and Georgianna Gray. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great-granchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Marys Church in Randolph, Monday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. DeFranc, Donna L.  
Donna Lee DeFranc, age 59, of Templeton, formerly of Quincy, unexpectedly passed away January 25, 2015. Donna graduated from North Quincy High School, Class of 1974. Most recently, she worked with the mentally and physically challenged at Templeton Developmental Center. In the past, she worked as a waitress at Mug and Muffin in Quincy (now Newcomb Farms); as a manager at Burger King in East Milton; and she later waitressed at IHOP in Randolph. She also spent some time working with the Meals on Wheels program. Donna loved to go to the Country Store to sit at the round table with friends to drink coffee, socialize, and read the newspaper. She was known for her love of black coffee and candy bars. She enjoyed walking along Lake Dennison, going to the flea market at Rietta Ranch in Hubbardston, and watching Lifetime movies and the Hallmark Channel. She was a sweet, caring person who loved animals. She was very generous and giving, and loved helping others in any way she could. Her family and friends were very important to her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Dalton) DeFranc. Beloved mother of John DeFranc and his wife Alexis of Boxford, and the late Cassandra Cassie Wilkins; cherished sister of Cathy Weikel and her husband Robert of Weymouth; devoted Nana of Victoria DeFranc; loving niece of MaryAnn Hughes of Fox-boro; aunt of Shawn, Alissa, and Mark Weikel; also survived by her cousins Paul and Gerard DeFranc, Robin Hughes, and Pamela Rogan. DeMaggio, Beatrice  
Beatrice (Nigrelli) DeMaggio, of Quincy, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 27. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur V. DeMaggio for 62 years. Born in Quincy, she was the loving daughter of the late John and Maria (Giglia) Nigrelli. Mrs. DeMaggio was a devoted homemaker, worked as a Tailor for Remicks in Quincy, worked for Goodhues in Quincy where she made Liturgical Clothing and was Owner and Operator of Heavenly Rounds, where they sold Square-dance apparel and Religious Goods, formerly of Quincy. She enjoyed square dancing and cherished time with her family. Mrs. DeMaggio was the loving mother of Arthur J. DeMaggio and his wife Catherine of Cornish, N.H. and Linda M. DeMaggio of Quincy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Johns Church, 44 School Street in Quincy on Monday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Rosaria F. (Tomasello) DeMatteo, age 97, of Hingham passed away January 26, at the Queen Ann Nursing Home in Hingham. Born in Boston, she attended Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury. She was a devoted housewife and mother and has lived in Hingham for over 15 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Martin E. Mother of M. Joseph DeMatteo of Hingham, Duchie Murphy and her husband Philip of Hingham and Claire Taylor and her husband Richard of Maryland. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Joan E. (McGrail) Dial, 85, of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester and South Boston, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. She was a retired office manager for the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Welfare. She was the wife of the late William M. Dial; and the longtime companion of James P. Keaveney. She was the loving mother of James W. Dial (Susan) of Plymouth, Janice L. Hoban (Michael) of Marshfield, Susan E. Busch of Boston, and the late John F. Dial; devoted grandmother of Courtney and Christopher Dial, Brian, William and Jenna Hobin and Alexander and Molly Busch; great-grandmother of Lola and Levi Hobin and Mari Hobin. Doherty, Maureen A.  
Maureen A. (Morrison) Doherty, 58 of Wareham, died January 26, 2015 at Tobey Hospital, Wareham. She was the wife of James J. Doherty Jr. and the daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Cody) Morrison. Maureen was born in Boston and lived in Wareham for 32 years. Maureen graduated from North Quincy High School and attended Cape Cod Community College. Maureen worked as a Phlebotomist in Wareham for many years and recently Quest Diagnostics in Falmouth. Maureen and her husband Jim of 40 years loved to travel; Aruba, Florida, and Las Vegas were some of their favorite locations. Maureen's true love was being with her family and her 5 grandchildren, whom she adored. She loved visiting them on the weekends to watch their sports and activities. Maureen also loved to cook and host parties for her family and her extended family that lovingly referred to her as "Moe D". She opened her home to all and wanted to make sure everyone was happy and having a great time. She was also huge New England Patriot's fan, watching every game with her husband and family. She even had the opportunity to meet them in Hawaii at the Pro-bowl after they won their second Superbowl. Survivors include her husband, James Doherty Jr. of Wareham; her children James J. Doherty III and his wife Donna of Middleboro, Jennifer Risitano and her husband Andrew of Quincy, Melissa McLaughlin and her husband Eric of Wareham, Kristopher Doherty and his wife Katie of Braintree; her grandchildren, Elle, Colin, Jack, Sofia and Drew; her brothers and sisters, Frank Morrison, Dennis Morrison, Colleen Askin, Kevin Morrison and Kathleen Shea; brother-in-law John Doherty; and many nieces and nephews. Maureen was the sister of the late Jake Morrison and daughter-in-law of the late James and Betty Doherty. Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Doherty, Robert P.  
Robert P. (Bob) Doherty, 73, passed away after a valiant struggle with Cancer. The son of the late Vincent and Helen (Quinlan) Doherty, Bob was a lifelong resident of Abington. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Bowser) Doherty; the loving father of Richard Doherty of Abington, Deborah Doherty of Quincy and Brian Doherty (and, his wife, Erika Doherty) of Milton; and a devoted grandfather to Amanda, Shon, Chloe, Caleb and Myles. Bob is also survived by his brother, John Doherty, of Plymouth as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was dedicated to excellence in all facets of his life. He was a skilled carpenter and co-owner of D & R Construction in Abington for more than 35 years, where he served as a father figure and mentor to many members of the community. Eschewing retirement to continue the work that he loved, Bob relished his most recent role as a project manager at Weathervane Construction in Weymouth. Bob also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve where he attained the rank of sergeant. Bob maintained his patriotism throughout his life. Bob was a graduate of Abington High Schools class of 1959. His enduring passion for football was bolstered by his role as quarterback for the Abington Green Wave football team. Throughout his life, he enjoyed attending games and sponsoring local sports organizations as a charter member of the Abington Boosters. Bob was also instrumental in developing a strong town softball league for girls. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Dolan, Arthur B.  
Arthur B. Dolan, age 82, of Weymouth, native of Dorchester, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 29, 2015. He was a retired accountant from State Street Bank and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mary (Maxwell) Dolan, and his siblings, Arlene Haggerty, Carol Lenardis and Bernie Dolan. He is survived by several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Peter Lenardis of Florida.
