Anita Lundin

Anita Lundin, 92, passed away peacefully on December 13 at Linden Ponds Continuing Care. A native of East Bridgewater, Anita was born on May 24, 1921, the beloved daughter of Peter and Paolina (Pedriali) Malaguti, emigrants from Italy. She grew up in a large, loving family with her brother Eligio, and the four Malaguti sisters, Mary Hall, Lena Peterson, Florence Tarantino and Louise Hoyt, all now deceased. A graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Anita led a zestful and successful life serving for many years as an associate with the Louis Benjamin Travel Agency in Brockton. An avid traveler herself, she crossed the continent by automobile in 1947 and crossed the Atlantic by steamship for a visit with Italian relatives in 1951. She met and married the love of her life, Carl Lundin, in 1953. They resided in North Abington which provided a home base for their many travels. Anita shared with Carl a love of golf and fine dining and, until his death, they played many a course and enjoyed many courses in both northern and southern climes. An extremely vivacious and engaging person, Anita loved parties and the holiday season. In the family she was fondly known as Aunt Tootie because of the whistlestop tours she made from house to house bearing gifts and good cheer. She enjoyed and told many jokes and kept her mental faculties engaged with crossword puzzles and Suduku well into her nineties. Anitas bright, lively presence lit up any room she entered. She will be much missed by those whose lives she touched. Anita is survived by her six nieces and nephews and their spouses: Bettina Weatherby and Gale and Jim Lorrey of East Bridgewater, Dale and Lorna Peterson of Amherst, Pauline and Tony Gonsalves of South Dartmouth, Lee and Pat Tarantino of Norton, and Wayne Hoyt of Hagerstown, Maryland. She leaves behind her devoted friends and dear companions, John and Jean-Ellen Ouellette Kenney and Peter Engstrom. At a date to be announced there will be a service in Anitas memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301 or to The Guild for Human Services, 411 Waverley Oaks Road #104, Waltham, MA 02452.
