Anthony E. Meleo, 86 years of age, of Braintree entered eternal life at his home Wednesday, March 5, 2014. He was born in Boston and received his education in Boston schools. Anthony was a sheet metal worker for Amtrak. He was a railroad employee for 42 years. He was a longtime resident of Braintree where he was a coach and referee for Pop Warner Football. He was a Korean War
veteran having served in the U.S. Army
. During his time in the Army he received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars
, the National Defense Service Medal with Two Overseas Bars, and the United Nations Service Medal. He belonged to the Braintree Lodge of Elks and the Braintree V.F.W
. He was the loving husband for 62 years of Erena (Morison) Meleo; and the awesome Dad of Jennice Kiely of Pembroke, Tracy Watson married to Bruce of Rockland, Anthony E. Meleo Jr. of Stoughton and Andrew E. Meleo of Randolph. He was the loving grandfather of Nicholas, Christopher, and Alison Kiely, Ryan Watson, Darrell Sprague, Anastasia, Hailie, and Anthony E. Meleo III. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and by nieces and nephews. Anthony is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Jumpre of Portsmouth, N.H., and Dorothy DePonte of Braintree. He was also the brother of the late Richard Meleo. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Sunday, March 9, from 4-7 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home Monday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. to be followed by a funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Braintree Square, at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be private.
