Edward J. Goode

Edward J. Goode, age 77, of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree, died peacefully, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, raised and educated in North Quincy. Edward was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1954. He was also a graduate of Newbury Junior College. He had lived in Braintree for fifty years. He also wintered in Punta Gorda, FL for fifteen years. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the late 1950s. He was employed as a foreman with the former New England Telephone Company for thirty-five years, retiring in 1989. It was there that he met his future wife, Patricia. Eddie was an avid Red Sox fan. Upon his retirement, he served as an usher at Fenway Park, as well as City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, FL. Eddie was also an ardent supporter of the Boston College football team. He was a member of the Alumni Association and traveled on many trips to support the team. He was a lifetime member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks. Beloved husband of the late Patricia M. (Malloy) Goode. Devoted father of Patricia A. Hill of Weymouth, Edward C. Goode of Boston, Robert J. Goode and his wife Kim of Rockland, Thomas J. Goode of Braintree, and Carol A. Kirkpatrick of Braintree. Loving Pa of Ashley Bowman and her husband Thomas Nolan of Worcester, Alyssa Bowman of Weymouth, and Matthew Kirkpatrick of Northbridge. Cherished brother of Barbara McLaughlin of Quincy, Gerald Goode of Arizona, the late Charles Goode, the late Rosemary Hanrahan, and the late Thomas Goode. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Wednesday, March 26th at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 55 Commercial Street, Weymouth Landing at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Tuesday 4 - 8 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
