F. Ruth Smith

F. Ruth (Miglich) Smith, 90, of Chatham, formerly of Hingham and Braintree, passed away on May 9, 2014 at her home at the Victorian Assisted Living. She was the dear daughter of Joseph and Johanna Jennie (Gorden) Miglich. She will be joining her beloved late husband William P. Smith Sr. She is survived by her devoted children: Joanna S. Cahoon and her husband Howard C. Cahoon Jr. of Chatham, William P. Smith Jr. and his wife Maureen M. Smith of Scituate, Steven R. Smith of Pembroke, and Judith L. Smith and her loving partner Ray Foster of Chatham. She is predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Mary Moye, Joseph M. Miglich, Louis Miglich, Edward Miglich, Pauline Anslover, Stephanie Hesse, Catherine Bernice Lovinsky, and Anna Melton. She will truly be missed by her cherished grandchildren Jeffrey, Jonathan, Lauren, Gregory, Matthew, Allison, Hallie, Sarah, Julia and her loving great grandchildren Grace, Paige, and Jackson. Ruth was an avid oil painter and loved painting landscapes. She had an ability to find beauty in all of her paintings as she did in life. She was a member of Eastward Ho! of Chatham for more than 50 years where she obtained Senior Emeritus Status. Visitation hours will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 4 - 7 p.m. followed by a church service at First Congregational Church, 650 Main Street, Chatham, MA on Wednesday, May 14, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
