Florence T. Ford

Florence T. (Driscoll) Ford of Hanson, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away Dec. 2, 2012, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was 80 years old. She was born in Dorchester, daughter of the late James J. and Margaret (Hayes) Driscoll. Florence was a member of the first graduating class of Matignon High School in 1949 where she met her husband and high school sweetheart John Ford. She was awarded a college scholarship to Regis College but turned it down so she could work and help support her parents and family. She worked for New England Telephone. She enjoyed reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and was a talented seamstress making her family's Easter outfits, winter coats, wedding dresses, and First Communion dresses. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was the loving wife of John J. Ford of Hanson; and beloved mother of Kathleen Moriarty and her husband the late Jack of Hanson, Margaret Biciunas and her husband Peter of Norwell, Christine Masuret and her husband Paul of Pembroke and the late John J. Ford Jr. She was the devoted sister of Alfred Driscoll of Hanson, and the late John Driscoll, Leo Driscoll, Vincent Driscoll, Frank Driscoll, Joseph Driscoll, Marie Driscoll, Marguerite Driscoll, and Rita Duke. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St. (at Rte. 58), Hanson, Friday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Hanson. Calling hours Thursday from 3-7 p.m. Interment in Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
