James M. Foster, of Randolph, passed away March 5, at the age of 71. Born in Weymouth, Jim was raised and educated in Quincy. He had been a resident of Randolph for 35 years. A veteran, Jim served nine years in the U.S. Navy and then worked as a food service director for over 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed driving for limousine services. Jim was an active member of the Amvets Post 51, Randolph Lodge of Elks, Avon VFW, the American Legion in Gorham, N.H., and the Masonic Delta Lodge in Braintree. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Wood) Foster; loving father of James M. Foster Jr. and his wife Norma of Pembroke, Jon L. Foster and his wife Catherine of Whitman, Kathleen Bartlett and her husband John of Plymouth, Kenneth A. Lewis and his wife Jennifer of East Bridgewater and Kevin M. Lewis of Randolph; devoted brother of Sandra Foster of Boston, Kathy Picarielo of Yarmouth, George Egan of Plymouth, Maureen Chiminiello of Boston, and the late Patricia Wayshville, Dorothy Foster, and Marilyn Hooper; son of the late George Egan and Virginia Brown. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, Saturday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Randolph, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jims memory to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, 755 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111. Jim was a straight shooter and a good man. He will always be remembered for his consideration and his kind, positive words. That was his way to the very end.
I am sad at his passing but happy to have experienced his friendship.
