Joan M. Bowman

Joan Marie Bowman, of Florida and formerly Cohasset. Born on March 5, 1945, in Cambridge, MA to loving parents, Thomas Gerard Keating and Margaret (OConnor) Keating. At 8:07 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2013, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ reached out His hand, and she placed hers into His, and joined Him and the Blessed Virgin Mary in eternal peace. She was married to the love of her life, Colonel Thomas G. Bowman, USMC (Ret.) on June 17, 1972, at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., after having met a year earlier on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Their life together can only be described as total love, devotion, and commitment. They had three children-Heather Bowman and her husband Jeff Despres of Brunswick, ME; Attorney Allen Bowman and his wife Ali Bowman of Paso Robles, CA; and Seaman Brian Bowman USCG and his wife Seaman Ryan Bowman USCG. There were three unshakable pillars in the life of this wonderful woman - her Holy Catholic faith and daily devotion to Mary, Mother of God, through the Rosary and Novena; her undying love and commitment to her husband and family; and her gratitude and thankfulness every day that God blessed her with a life in which to enjoy the love, affection, and joy of her three children and seven grandchildren, and the ability to serve others through volunteerism and works of charity. Joan is survived by five brothers Gerard L. Keating of Weymouth, Thomas Keating of Duxbury, Brian Keating of Hull, Chris Keating of Milton and Stephen Keating of York, ME. She was also the sister of the late Allen Keating of Cohasset, MA. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 from 3 - 7 p.m. at McNamara- Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA 02025. A celebration of her Catholic life and Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, 10 a.m. at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, 10 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA 02025.
